The 2015 Missoula Craft Beer Week is Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2.  The schedule below is a work in progress, so keep checking back as we add events and more details.

2015 Missoula Craft Beer Week Events

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 25

Missoula Beer Open House:  12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. All six of Missoula's breweries kick of Missoula Craft Beer Week in style with a city-wide open house and the ability to check out how your favorite beers are made.  Tours will be available at each brewery and, of course, plenty of beer to celebrate MCBW.  Check with each brewery for tour times and any sign-up requirements.  Bayern Brewing, Big Sky Brewing, Draught Works Brewery, Imagine Nation Brewing, Great Burn Brewing, Kettlehouse Brewing Co.   (Note:  Tap Room Tours hoped to provide free rides between breweries, but due to mechanical difficulties has had to cancel.)

...and while you're out and about, check out the limited time run of the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula's  "History of Montana Beer" exhibit between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. 3400 Captain Rawn Way.  (The exhibit opens Saturday April 11 and may also be viewed during the Museum's normal business hours.) 

How Beer Saved the World + Brewery Tour: 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. || Imagine Nation Brewing Co.  1151 W. Broadway. Join Imagine Nation for a screening of the 40-minute documentary, “How Beer Saved the World,” followed by an in-depth tour of the production facility with Imagine Nation’s head brewer.  The tour will cover the process of making beer, a chance to enjoy sensory evaluations of brewing ingredients, plus reflections on how Missoulians can keep changing the world with craft beer.  Screenings will be shown every hour at the top of the hour and are free to the public. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 26

SOLD OUT! Bacon n' Beer Brunch10:00 a.m. - noon || Draught Works Brewery. Returning for its 3rd year! 2014! 915 Toole Ave. All-you-can-eat bacon and sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit-bacon kabobs, and biscuits & gravy from Burns St. Bistro, and maple bacon bars from Bakers' Dozen! Tickets go on sale Monday, March 30th at Draught Works at noon for $35 and typically sell out quickly due to the limited number of seats. Tickets include a commemorative mug and four 12oz beers.

Human Foosball Tournament: 2:00 p.m. || Kettlehouse Southside.  Advance registration required. $20 per team of six players. Register at Kettlehouse - Southside Taproom! 

The History of Brewing in Montana with Steve Lozar: 4:00 p.m. || Imagine Nation Brewing Co. 1151 W. Broadway.  No doubt, craft beer has shaped Montana. Imagine Nation is fortunate to host Steve Lozar—the past president of the Montana Historical Society—for a ride through the state’s transformative brewing history. As the proprietor of the Montana Brewing Museum in Polson, Mr. Lozar is the state’s foremost brewery historian and one of the most passionate voices for the positive impact breweries continue to make under the Big Sky. Join us for a free, fun-filled journey through what was as we celebrate what is…over a good craft beer, of course.


MONDAY, APRIL 27

Beer Vs. Wine Dinner: Or How I Learned to Stop Choosing and Love Them Both, Sponsored by Big Sky Brewing Company: 5:30 p.m. || Caffe Dolce. 500 Brooks St. At Caffe Dolce we are wine drinkers. Although, if you ask any employee, including the wine director, what they drank after work, on the river, on a sunday afternoon . . . you can safely assume the answer will be beer. We are also beer people. Don't force us to choose. With that in mind, join us Monday, April 27th at 5:30pm for an incredible five course dinner with BOTH beer and wine pairings chosen by the beer and wine directors of Caffe Dolce and the beer masters at Big Sky Brewing Company. This event focuses on finding those otherworldly pairings of food and drink.  We want our wine parings transcendent, our beer pairings glorious. We want to be surprised. "Homebrewd" Movie Night, Sponsored by Bitter Root Brewing: 8:00 p.m. || Top Hat Lounge. 134 West Front St.  Enjoy a free screening of the premier of Homebrewd, a documentary about Montana's homebrewing and beer culture. Filmmakers Carl Spurgeon and Rob Truax will be on hand. Bitter Root Brewery will be handing our swag and have some tasty beers on tap.  All that with plenty of Top Hat's excellent tapas available to curb your hunger.  

TUESDAY, APRIL 28

Tap Takeover: 4:00 to close. || Philipsburg Brewing Company || Desperado Sports Tavern 3101 S. Russell St.  Join the crew from Philipsburg Brewing Co. for a 6-tap takeover and chat with the owners and brewers!

Beer Release Party: 5:00 to close. || Flathead Lake Brewing Co. of Missoula. 424 N. Higgins Ave.  Join the fun with Flathead Lake Breweing Co. as they release their Equinox OPA and the 2015 version of Dirty Ginger.  Beer and food specials, prizes and even chat with a FLBC rep!

Beer Dinner: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. ||  Great Burn Brewing Co. 2230 McDonald Ave. Great Burn Brewing is partnering with Riversong Gourmet for a beer and food pairing.  Brewmaster Mike Howard and Chef Paige Pitzer have created a menu of delicious courses that will both compliment and contrast with the beers of Great Burn Brewing.  Mike and Paige will be on hand to explain the pairings.  This informal event will be held at the brewery and tickets are available in advance. Cost is $45 per person inclusive of beer.

Appreciate Beer Like a Pro Workshop: 5:00 - 6:00 or 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. || Imagine Nation Brewing Co. 1151 W. Broadway.  Have you ever wanted to really expand your knowledge of beer and brewing?  If so, join Imagine Nation Brewing as they team up with the good folks at Summer Sun and Market on Front to offer professional beer tasting trainings.  During your time with local beer specialists, Jared Robinson and Steve Luedecke of Summer Sun, and Imagine Nation’s head brewer, you’ll have the opportunity to learn beer sensory evaluation, how the pros judge beer, and the intricacies of brewing used to create the many complex nuances in craft beer.  The tasting will consist of six-4oz. sample beers, gourmet bites from Market on Front to cleanse the pallet, and two complimentary 12 oz. glasses at the end of the training of your favorite brew.  Tickets for either event can be purchased at Imagine Nation Brewing, Summer Sun, or Market on Front. $25 per person. Each workshop limited to 20 people.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29

Beer and Cheese Pairing: 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. || Draught Works Brewery. In celebration of Missoula Craft Beer Week, Draught Works has partnered with the Good Food Store to bring you a beer and cheese pairing.  Drinking beer isn't just for quenching your thirst, it's also meant to enjoy with your favorite foods.  Come and explore the marriage of complex beers and cheeses.  Draught Works has hand selected 8 specialty (many unreleased to the public) beers to accompany an array of cheeses sure to lift the palate.  Draught Works brewers and the Good Food Store cheese expert will be present to walk you through the tasting and educate you about both. Two seatings. Each seating is limited to 25 participants. Cost is $20 per person. 

Run Wild Missoula Beer Run: 6:00 p.m. || Draught Works Brewery 915 Toole Ave.

Family Night Out: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. || Imagine Nation Brewing Co. 1151 W. Broadway. Sometimes it’s tough to line everything up so you can sneak away for a brew with your partner. That’s why Imagine Nation wants to help care for your kids so you can really enjoy Missoula Craft Beer Week. Between 5-8pm, at the top of each hour, international art and ecology educator, Penelope Baquero, will facilitate engaging, multi-age workshops for 4 to 10 year olds in the INBC Center for Community Transformation. Bring your kid(s) promptly at 5pm, 6pm, or 7pm to enjoy a meaningful hour-long art activity while you savor your favorite brew with your partner and/or friends. Each workshop is limited to 7 children and is free; donations for educator gratefully accepted.


THURSDAY, April 30

Craft Beer Cup: 5:15 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. || Mini Golf Tournment througout downtown Missoula. Sink your ball in the hole while exploring Downtown Missoula in this fun-filled pub crawl and mini-golf tournament. Teams of 4-6 players. $20 PER PERSON.  Profits donated to Missoula Food Bank.  Registration must be done in person at The Rhino, 158 Ryman St. Payment must accompany your registration and please have shirt sizes for all team members. Participation is limited, so get on it! This event will sell out quickly. DRESS THEME: Steampunk Cowboy / Cowgirl!

Craft Beer Cup Celebration Party: 9:30 || Top Hat Lounge. 134 West Front St. Come to the Top Hat following the Craft Beer Cup for the awards celebration, swag, and the Top Hat's always great line up of beer and small plates.

Celebrating Pub Culture: An Evening with Irish Traditional Music: 5:00. p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Imagine Nation Brewing Co. 1151 W. Broadway. Pub culture gave birth to the American Revolution; long before, it shaped the communal culture of the Emerald Isle.   Join Imagine Nation for an evening of traditional Irish music from local group The Craicers to celebrate not just craft beer, but the positive culture of connection that surrounds it and continues to revolutionize American society. (Free to attend).

FRIDAY, MAY 1

Big Beer Festival: 5:00 p.m. || Outside at The Rhino. 158 Ryman St.

Wooden Barrel Tapping of Bayern Dump Truck: 5:30 p.m. || The Depot. 201 Railroad St. Join the Bayern crew at The Depot for their spring release of Dump Truck, straight from a wooden barrel. 

On Deck 10: 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. || Montana Skatepark Assc || Brink Gallery 111 W. Front St. This 10th annual skateboard deck art show / fundraiser supports the Montana Skatepark Assc. This year Kettlehouse Brewing will be sponsoring the beer portion of the First Friday Art Show. SATURDAY, MAY 2

12:00 p.m.  23rd Garden City Brewfest. Beers, live music and food vendors.  Celebrate the end of Missoula Craft Beer Week in style at the longest running brewfest in Montana. Caras Park.

ALL WEEK LONG

Montana Beer Blind Tasting: All Day. || The Rhino. 158 Ryman St. $7 for a flight of four 7 oz. Montana-made beers. You just have to tell us which ones they are. Correct answers get a prize. Then we'll draw from all the winners for a grand prize!

Chains and Grains Fundraising "Race": All Week. || Sponsored by Big Sky Brewing Company / The Rhino / Thirst Gear. This new event takes place all week long during Missoula Craft Beer Week. Teams of 6-15 people mount the might Thirst Gear (Pedal Pub) and "race" through downtown Missoula, making designated stops along the way. Prizes for the fastest times. Limited to six teams per day during the week. Sign up at The Rhino. Proceeds benefit MTB Missoula and its efforts to expand Missoula's mountain biking trail systems. 

Special Beer Menu with Big Sky Brewing Co. || Stone of Accord. 4951 N. Reserve. For 2015 Missoula Craft Beer Week Stone of Accord teamed up w Big Sky Brewing Co.  Chef Dan Zachary and restaurant owner / manager, Jess Hilly, will be showcasing a specially designed menu paired with Big Sky Brewing Co. beers throughout Missoula Craft Beer Week's entirety! Come join in on the fun fare an beverages starting Sat April 25th an they will be running this special menu for both lunch an dinner until the beer week concludes Saturday May 2nd. Stone of Accord is open from 9am-10pm Sat, Sun an 11am-10pm Mon-Fri. Please come on down and try some of Missoula's greatest cuisine paired with some of your favorite local brews!
